While many of us love to head to our favorite coffee shop to get our holiday fix, sometimes we just don’t have the time (or money). This gingerbread coffee recipe can be brewed in your coffee pot and prepared ahead of time to enjoy your drink later.

In addition, the recipe for this delicious beverage requires common ingredients already in your pantry.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp 1 tsp ground ginger

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp allspice

  • 1 tsp 1 tsp cloves

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp molasses

  • 6 cups 1.42 l brewed coffee

  • 1 cup 236.59 ml half-and-half

  • 2 cups 473.18 ml whipped cream

  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 tsp baking soda (optional)

Directions

  • Mix together ginger, cinnamon, allspice, and molasses in a small bowl until the mixture is smooth.
Adding baking soda is another great idea to lower the acidity of coffee.
  • Pour about a quarter cup of hot brewed coffee into six cups.
  • Take a tablespoon of the ground mixture from step 1 and stir it into each coffee cup until they dissolve completely.
  • After stirring the mix, fill the cups about an inch to the brim with more hot coffee.
  • Add the half-and-half and stir it into the coffee.
  • Add some whipped cream and a dust of ground cloves to give your coffee a new twist.

Notes

  • Each serving with whipped cream and half-and-half is about 110 calories.
  • Don’t forget the gingerbread man for the ultimate holiday coffee 🙂

Recipe 2: Brew-in Method

You can also use this alternative, simpler method of making Gingerbread Coffee:

With this one, you will mix your spices with the ground coffee BEFORE brewing in a drip coffee maker.

  1. Place your coffee grounds in the coffee maker as usual.
  2. Sprinkle cinnamon, ginger, allspice, and cloves on the coffee grounds.
  3. Brew your coffee as usual.
  4. Add molasses and half-and-half to your coffee to sweeten it, and your gingerbread coffee is ready. You can add some whipped cream and cloves or gingerbread cookie crumbs.

What Kind of Cup Should You Use to Serve Homemade Gingerbread Coffee?

You should serve your delicious gingerbread coffee in a clear glass mug. You will see the layers of coffee and whipped cream, a treat for the eyes.

However, you can also serve this beverage in a classic mug, ceramic mug, or travel tumbler. If you are a slow drinker, you can opt for double-walled glass mugs, as these are better suited to insulate your drink.

Tips for the Best Gingerbread Coffee

Here are a few tips to help you make the perfect gingerbread coffee:

  • Prepare more servings of gingerbread spice in advance, store it appropriately, and use it whenever you feel like making gingerbread spiced coffee.
  • To achieve a more fanciful presentation, dip the mug rim in gingerbread syrup, then dip it in crushed gingerbread cookies before starting the process.
  • If you use too much spice and find out that your flavors are too intense, you can add more creamer.
  • You can add some collagen to your milk for a nutritional boost before you froth.
  • You don’t have to stick to a particular kind of creamer. Almond milk, skim milk, coconut milk, half and half, etc… however you like your coffee.
